Season closes for Marked Tree Indians

The Marked Tree Indians saw their season come to a close Monday night, falling to host team Riverside in the first round of the 2A-3 District Tournament at Caraway, 78-56.

The Rebels' Josh Anderson was a difference maker on the night, posting a 20-20 night with 23 points and 22 rebounds.

Allen Buchanan and Darius Ivy led the Indians on the night, netting 14 points each.

Cross County Win

The Indians picked up a victory in their game of the regular season, topping Cross County, 69-62, Friday in Marked Tree.

Cross County held the advantage early, leading 15-12 after the first quarter and 28-24 at the half.

The Indians surged back in the third, as Ivy netted nine of his 23 points in the pivotal frame, helping Marked Tree outpace the visitors 25-11 in the period en route to taking a 49-39 lead into the fourth quarter.

Buchannan and Zach Bond finished with 11 points each to help the Indians' cause. Gunner Pitts added 10 points for Marked Tree.

Cross County was led by Jake Veasley's 27 points.

The Junior Indians were eliminated from their district tournament Friday at Cross County by eventual runner-up Riverside, 39-34.
