TRUMANN - Mr. Carmack "Mack" Johnson, 87, of Trumann died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark.
He was born in Amagon, Ark., and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann and was formerly of Lepanto. Mr. Johnson was a former employee of Hytrol Corp, the Singer Co., and door greeter at Wal-Mart in Trumann, member of the Trumann Lions Club and was a deacon of the First Assembly of God in Trumann.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie Muriel Brown Johnson, in 2004; infant daughter, Rosemary Johnson; two sisters; two brothers; son-in-law, Donald Hooker, and his parents, David Y. and Pearlie M. Tummins Johnson.
Survivors include two daughters, Carnell Hooker of Trumann and Louise Scrivener of Wichita, Kans.; one granddaughter, Tara Hooker Story and husband Tony; one great-granddaughter, Darby Hannah Story, and two sisters, Iowa Rainey of Owensboro, Ky., and Elese Price of Tyronza.
Funeral services were Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Doke and Rev. Fred Willbanks Jr., officiating. Burial followed in the Potters Memorial Cemetery in Lepanto, Ark.
Pallbearers were Floyd Inzer, Ronnie Maxwell, Kenny Maxwell, Taylor Morgan, Jeremy Ferguson and Jackie Smith.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Trumann Lions Club and nephews Jerry Lowery, Marvin Vaughn and Edward Hargrove.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.
