Billy M. Ham

Friday, August 17, 2012

On Sunday, Aug. 12, we lost our loving husband, our loving father and our amazing Pappa, Billy M. Ham. He passed away with his family surrounding him at his home in Wenatchee, Wash.

Billy was born in Leachville, Ark., on Feb. 4, 1924, to Clarence W. Ham and Helen Carrie Ham (nee Wagner). Billy grew up in Marked Tree, Ark., with his brothers and his sisters, Eugene, Albert, Polly, Almeda, Edith, Mary Evelyn and Milton.

In 1948, Billy married Johnnie Wallin at Wildwood Methodist Church. Together Billy and Johnnie raised two daughters, Linda and Evy. In 1954, Billy and Johnnie moved their family to Washington State where they lived for the next 58 years.

Billy was known to his granddaughters and his great-granddaughter as "Pappa". As Pappa, Billy helped take care of the girls throughout the years, including making baby bottles all the way to giving driving lessons. His favorite activities were working with his roses and working in his woodshop. Billy was a long time member of the Wenatchee Brethren-Baptist Church.

Billy is survived by his wife, Johnnie; his daughters, Linda Sexton (Larry) and Evy Slack (Greg); his granddaughters, Kristen Jones and Kiley Walker (J. Michael); his great-granddaughter, Chloe Walker; his stepgrandchildren, Ellen Walker, Seth Walker, Kirsten Walker, and Zoe Sexton; his brother, Milton Ham; and his numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Marked Tree Cemetery. Arrangements are by Telford's Chapel of the Valley in Washington State and Murphy's Funeral Home in Marked Tree.
