It was Homecoming night and spirits were high in Trumann as the Westside Warriors came to visit last Friday night. The game was close as the Warriors took a 21-20 lead in the final quarter and made that lead stand up to spoil the night for the Wildcats.
Tevin Bradley led a balanced rushing attack with 101 yards on nine carries. A.J. Winningham returned from an arm injury to gain 96 yards on seven carries. Cameron Wright had 62 yards on eight carries and Josh Evans picked up 61 yards on eight carries. Winningham was 10 of 15 passing for 182 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. Wright led the charge on defense as he had 15 tackles. Bradley recorded 13 tackles while Evans, Heston O'Brien, Willie Moore and Jarrod Adams had eight tackles each.
The EPC Warriors and Walnut Ridge Bobcats might have played the best game in the area this past Friday night in Walnut Ridge. Both teams came into the contest undefeated on the season. The Warriors trailed for most of the game but took a 42-40 lead late in the game. The Warriors had a goal line stand on their own one yard line with under two minutes to play to preserve the win.
Trevor McDaniel finished the night with 77 yards rushing and 95 yard receiving with two touchdowns. Aaron Scales was 10 of 20 passing for 172 yards and three touchdown passes. Caleb Harston had two touchdown catches as Byron Scales and Mookie Sturdivant each scored a rushing touchdown. Tristan McDaniel had 17 tackles on defense with Sturdivant intercepting two passes and Trevor McDaniel intercepting one.
