Lady Indians fall at regioinal

The Marked Tree Lady Indians (22-7) let a fourth period lead slip away and then got a big three-pointer from Poohnu Perry to send the game into overtime where the Lady Tigers from Pangburn outscored the Lady Indians 18-8 to down Marked Tree 85-75 ending the Lady Indians season at the Class 2A North Regional tournament at Imboden.

Marked Tree raced out to a 7-2 lead Lexi Perry got an offensive rebound and put it back in, Poohnu Perry hit a baseline jumper and Jay Perry canned a three-pointer from the right wing. Pangburn tied the game before Poohnu Perry got inside to give Marked Tree a 9-7 lead. Poohnu Perry hit a jumper and Jay Perry canned another three to give the Lady Indians a 14-9 lead with 2:44 left in the first. Dezaree Reel hit one of two free throws before hitting a jumper in the lane to put Marked Tree up 17-11. Peyton Carter hit a shot with four seconds left to give Marked Tree a 19-11 lead after the first.

Pangburn cut it to 19-14 with a three ball to open the second before the Lady Indians reeled off eight straight points with Lexi Perry scoring back to back baskets before Poohnu Perry scored back to back baskets to make it 27-14. Pangburn answered with a 10-0 run to cut it to 27-24 with 2:07 left before half. The teams traded points to finish the period as Poohnu Perry hit two free throws and Lexi Perry scored inside as the teams went to half time with Marked Tree up 31-28.

Jay Perry drilled a three-pointer from the left corner and Poohnu Perry went the length of the floor for a lay up to make it 36-30 early in the third period. Pangburn went on an 8-2 run to tie the score with Reel scoring a basket for the Lady Indians. Lexi Perry scored back to back buckets and Diana Harris hit a jumper to give Marked Tree a 44-38 lead with 2:08 left in the period. The Lady Tigers cut it to two before Carter hit a three-pointer and Poohnu Perry and Lexi Perry scored back to back baskets pushing the Marked Tree lead to 51-42. Pangburn hit a three before the buzzer to make it 51-45.

The fourth period started off with the teams trading scores for most of the first half of the period. Jay Perry scored inside and was fouled to start the period. Her free throw was good to make it 54-45. Lexi Perry got inside for a score and Poohnu Perry hit a jumper in the lane to make it 58-50. Poohnu Perry got inside for another score before Pangburn cut it to three at 60-57 with 2:43 left. Poohnu Perry hit two free throws before Pangburn hit a three and scored inside to tie the game at 62. Lexi Perry gave Marked Tree a 64-62 lead as she scored inside only to see Pangburn hit another three and make two free throws to go up 67-64 with eight seconds left. Poohnu Perry brought the ball down court, dribbled to her left and pulled up and nailed a three-pointer as time expired to tie the game at 67 and send it to overtime.

Lexi Perry gave Marked Tree a 69-67 with a basket down low as Pangburn answered with a three to go up 70-69. Lexi Perry hit one of two free throws after being fouled to tie the game at 70. Pangburn scored seven straight to go up 77-70 with 1:08 left. Poohnu Perry scored a conventional three-point play to make it 77-73. Poohnu Perry got Marked Tree to within four again with a basket to make it 79-75 before the Lady Tigers scored the last six points to win 85-75.

"We gave up way to many shot, they (Pangburn) hit 12 three's in the game," Marked Tree coach Derik Drewett said after the game. "They hit their free throws down the stretch. It's tough to win when you let them knock down shots," Drewett added.

Poohnu Perry scored 30 points for the Lady Indians on the night. Lexi Perry added 21 points and Jay Perry had 12 points for Marked Tree.
