Lady Indians move to 10-2

Marked Tree (8-1, 4-1 2A-3) down Riverside 12-1 in girls high school softball action this last Thursday in Marked Tree.

Peyton Carter had a huge day as she got the win on the mound giving up one run on three hits while walking one and striking out eight. Carter also had four hits on day and drove in four runs.

Kelsey Pitts, Abby Beck and Jay Perry all had two hits each on the day. Pitts, Beck and Breanna Francis all had two RBIs each.

The Lady Indians (9-2) went 1-1 in the Steve Cremeens Memorial tournament held in Jonesboro last Friday and Saturday. The Lady Indians won Friday over Valley View 4-0 as Carter tossed a no-hitter. Marked Tree was beaten by Nettleton 4-2 on Saturday.

Against Valley View, Carter had 11 strikeouts with one walk for the win. Carter had three hits and drove in a run also. Beck added a hit and drove it two runs while Holly Smith had a hit and an RBI.

In the Nettleton game Carter took the loss while striking out seven batters. Poohnu Perry drove in both Marked Tree runs.

Peyton Carter had a big day on the mound and at the plate as Marked Tree (10-2, 5-1) beat BIC 5-2 in Marked Tree this past Monday.

Carter belted a two-run home run as one of her three hits on the day. Carter also drove in four runs. On the mound, Carter gave up three hits and struck out 12.

Poohnu Perry and Smith each had two hits.
