Baseball updates: Area teams pick up wins

EPC (7-5, 4-2 2A-3) got a complete game 10 strikeout performance from Caleb Harston as the Warriors downed McCrory 10-7 in baseball action this past Thursday in Lepanto.

Hunter Hinton, Aaron Scales and Corbin Truelove each had two hits on the day. McKenzie Betts, Josh Skipper, Kyle Harbin and Truelove all had a RBI for EPC.

Marked Tree (5-6, 5-1 2A-3) beat Cross County 17-1 this past Thursday in high school baseball action in Cherry Valley.

Blake Daniels led the Indians at the plate with two hits and three RBIs. Connor Fields also collected two hits and drove in two runs. Hunter Pitts had three RBIs as Bailey Gilbert and Hunter Pitts had two RBIs each.

Fields got the win with a complete game as he gave up one run on four hits while striking out five batters.

Weiner got a doubleheader sweep over Ridgefield Christian this past Thursday in Weiner. The Cardinal won the opener 6-5 and came back to win the night cap by the same score, 6-5.

Logan Bray got the win in game one as Alex Nicholson drove in two runs for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals won the second game on a walk-off single from Avery Bise in the bottom of the seventh. Bise finished with two hits in the game. Bray also collected two hits and scored two runs. Grant Johnson drove in three runs on two hits.

Johnson got the win on the mound as the struck out 12 batters.

Marked Tree (6-6, 6-1) evened their record with a 8-4 win over Marmaduke this past Monday in Marked Tree.

Brody McCrary got the win for the Indians going the distance giving up four runs on six hits. McCrary struck out five.

Fields had two hits and two stolen bases with one stolen base being a steal of home. Daniels and Jaden Bell also had two hits. Fields, Daniels and Bell all had an RBI on the day.
