Baseball action heats up as spring finally arrives

Harrisburg jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and went on to beat Pocahontas 8-5 in high school baseball action in Pocahontas this past Monday.

Collin McCrary and Jake Chatman each finished with two hits and an RBI each on the day. Arizona Sharp had a hit and two RBIs as Cade Condra had one hit and a RBI.

Matt Walton got the win for the Hornets as he gave up five runs on six hits. Brayden Honeycutt pitched the final two innings to earn the save.

Connor Fields pitched a two-hit shut out as Marked Tree (10-10, 10-2 2A-3) downed Cross County 10-0 this past Monday in Marked Tree.

Dylan Hunt had three hits for the Indians and scored two runs. Jaden Bell had two hits, scored three runs and drove in two. Bailey Gilbert had two hits on the day and Octavius Dean finished with two RBIs.

Fields struck out five on the day.

Beau Adams scored a run in the bottom of ninth innings to send Harrisburg to a 4-3 win over Tuckerman this past Tuesday in Harrisburg.

Ayson Lamb led the Hornets at the plate collecting four hits with a run scored and an RBI. Collin McCrary had two hits and scored twice as Jake Chatman had a hit and a RBI.

Arizona Sharp pitched eight innings giving up five runs on eight hits. Connor Haag pitched the final inning to pick up the win.

Clay Malone came into a bases loaded, no outs jam and only allowed one run to score as the EPC Warriors held on for a 9-7 win over Riverside this past Tuesday in Lake City.

Caleb Harston's four hits and two RBIs led the Warriors at the plate. McKenzie Betts had three hits and three RBIs, Byron Scales two hits and two RBIs, Kyle Harbin had two RBIs and Malone scored two runs.

Betts got the win going five innings giving up seven runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked three. Malone pitched last two innings for the save.

Marked Tree (11-10, 11-2) doubled up Marmaduke 8-4 this past Tuesday in high school baseball.

Hunter Pitts had two hits, two runs scored, two RBIs and four stolen bases on the day. Fields had a hit, two runs scored and a two stolen bases. Jaden Bell blasted a two-run homer for the Indians.

Blake Daniels picked up the win going all seven innings. He allowed four runs on six hits while walking one and striking out six.

Bay (5-7, 4-4 1A-3 East) downed Ridgefield Christian 5-3 in high school baseball action this past Tuesday in Jonesboro.

Kail Harris finished with three hits on the day for Bay as John Stephens and Jake Martin each had two hits. Martin also had two RBIs.

Harris recorded the win for Yellowjackets.
