Claudine Posey Vanover Allen Bivens was born May 21, 1929 in Philadelphia, MS; and deceased May 13, 2013 in Senatobia, MS. Preceded in death by her parents Cora Velma Sharp Posey and Coley George Posey of Marked Tree, AR. Also preceded in death by husbands Hugh Gordon Allen of Memphis, TN; and Louis Bivens of Trumann, AR. Survived by two children Allan Vanover of Senatobia, MS; Darlene Stone of Atlanta, GA; a step son Hugh Allen of Arlington, TN. Claudine also left behind four grandchildren, Amy Massey (Jeremy), Alaina Johnston (Perk), Jessica Stone, and Julia Stone, two step grandchildren, Ann and Angie Allen and four great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren a sister Virginia Roberson of Marked Tree, AR.
Claudine was a bright spirit and deeply loved by all those around her. Beginning at the age of fourteen she played basketball for Marked Tree Indians and was a member of the team as they triumphed with a four-year long winning streak (126 consecutive games). Even in her adult life she continued to be actively involved in her community. Submitting weekly articles about Trumann Senior Center activities for the Poinsett County Democrat Tribune, serving food with Meals on Wheels, participating in the Red Hat Society, and even winning in the Senior Olympics kept Claudine young at heart. She was also a former member of Colonial Baptist Church in Memphis, TN; and Calvary Baptist Church in Trumann, AR; before moving to Senatobia, MS.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, AR. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held immediately after visitation at 2:00 PM. Graveside services will follow at the cemetery in Marked Tree, AR.
