Bobby Jack Young, born March 1, 1935 in Tyronza, Arkansas passed away May 13, 2013 in Gulf Breeze, Florida. He is survived by his wife Dottie Young, children Cindy Gordon (Charles) of Hernando, Mississippi, John "Jack" Young of Baltimore, Maryland and Robert "Bob" Young of Berlin, Germany, grandchildren Dr. Charles Gordon, Jr (Sarah) of Buffalo, New York and Andrew Gordon of Nashville, Tennessee and his devoted dog - Magic. He was the loving brother of Joyce Williams Davison of West Memphis, Arkansas, Pat Dial Utley of West Memphis, Arkansas, Larry Young of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Judy Morrisett Hopkins of Hernando, Mississippi. He was the eldest son of Christina and John Robert Young of West Memphis, AR. He was also survived by many loving Nieces and nephews.
He attended the University of Arkansas on a basketball scholarship where he also played baseball. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas, and a Master plus M.Ed. from Wayne State University - Detroit, Michigan. He served four years in the United States Air Force.
Bobby retired in Flushing, Michigan after a career in education as first a football coach and later a principal. He started Bob Young's Fund Finders, a company that helped high school students raise money for local projects. He was an avid golfer who enjoyed his many friends at Flushing Valley Country Club, Flushing, Michigan. He was a friend to many and a compassionate person to those less fortunate than he.
A Memorial service will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 North Pine Street West Memphis, AR 72303 Saturday, July 6, 2013.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., with services following at 2 p.m., with internment immediately following at Crittenden Memorial Park, Marion, Arkansas. www.rollerfuenralhomes.com
