# Schools release 2012-2013 Test Scores

Poinsett County Schools have released the 2012-2013 test proficiency percentiles for the students of each grade. The tests include the benchmark, end-of-course algebra, end-of-course geometry, and end-of-course literacy.

According to Trumann School District Assistant Superintendent David Rutledge, the scores are not as high as the school wants them, but they are a reflection of the school teaching the Common Core Standards.

"As a school, we have implemented the common core state standards, but the assessment hasn't caught up to what the frameworks are actually teaching," Rutledge said. "Our scores were indicative of us making that step forward and implementing those frameworks."

Arkansas has adopted the Common Core standards, however the testing for the standards will not go into effect until the 2014-2015 school year. Whereas children grades 3-8 are now required to take the benchmark, they will be taking an online assessment in grades 3-11 provided by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, also known as the PARCC Assessment.
