High school football: EPC and Trumann
EPC moved to 7-0 (4-0 2A-3) on the season as they ran past Cedar Ridge 60-20 in Newark this past Friday night. Aaron Scales led the Warriors offense as he completed 8 of 11 passes for 204 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 34 yards and another touchdown. He also passed for two two-point conversions. Quinn Young had 42 yards rushing with a touchdown, a two-point conversion run and returned a punt 82 yards for a touchdown. Byron Scales also had a rushing touchdown and two two-point conversion runs. Trevor McDaniel had two rushing touchdowns on the night. Corbin Truelove had 76 yards receiving and a touchdown. Byron Scales led the defense with 17 tackles, Aaron Scales finished with 11 tackles and an interception as Paul Pilgrim had nine tackles and recovered a fumble.
Trumann (1-6, 0-3 4A-3) could not get on track in the first half as Valley View raced out to a 41-6 before handing the Wildcats a 48-20 loss. Trey Moody led the Wildcats with 70 yards rushing and also had two interceptions on defense. Justin Liles scored two touchdowns rushing, Willie Moore had a rushing touchdown and Moody added a two-point conversion. Westen Gilliam had five tackles to lead the defense for Trumann.
