EPC moved to 9-0 (6-0 2A-3) with a 34-8 win over Salem this past Friday night. The win clinched the conference championship for the Warriors.
Aaron Scales had another good night rushing for 88 yards and two touchdowns while throwing for 127 yards and a touchdown. Trevor McDaniel finished with 101 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the night. Byron Scales had a touchdown catch.
"Our defense was outstanding. They played really hard and really fast," EPC coach Brian Weathers said. All-state linebacker Tristan McDaniel saw his first action since breaking his leg in week three and finished with 10 tackles and a sack. Byron Scales finished with 11 tackles and the EPC defense sacked Salem's quarterback five times, intercepted a pass and had 10 tackles for a loss on the night.
EPC will face county rival Marked Tree in the final regular season game on Nov. 7.
Trumann traveled to Cave City looking for their first official win of the season and were handed a 34-8 loss at the hands of the Cavemen. Trumann fell to (1-9, 0-6 4A-3) and will host Highland in the season's final game on Nov. 7.
Jesse Buchanan led the Wildcats with 48 yards rushing on the night. Garrett Woods hooked up with Westen Gilliam for a touchdown pass. Grayson Dye added the two-point conversion run. Alex Santos recorded five tackles on defense as Heston O'Brien had four tackles.
