Richardson vies for clerk position
Misty Richardson of Harrisburg announces her intentions to run for the office of Poinsett County Circuit Clerk. Richardson has worked as a deputy clerk under Claudia Mathews for ten years. Mathews is retiring when her term ends in 2014. During her time with the Circuit's Office Richardson has been involved in many of the updates to the county's computer and recording systems, including being recognized by the Supreme Court of Arkansas for participation in the Arkansas Court Automation Project. This project, implemented in 2007, involved computerizing county voting and DL records to allow for using an enhanced jury list for selecting jury pools within the county. Before that lists had to be pulled by hand using the County Clerk's voter registration data and only those residents who were registered voters could be called to serve as potential jurors. The new program allowed a more streamlined selection process and a larger number of county citizens to pull from. It also allows information concerning fees paid by the county for jury service to be submitted to the state for partial reimbursement. Richardson also assisted in the installation of computer programs allowing for the scanning of court records including currently working with the AOC to use their state wide issued program which will allow clerk's offices throughout the state to use a uniform method for case data entry.
"I have learned a lot from Claudia and she leaves big shoes to fill but I look forward to the opportunity to learn more and to further serve the people of Poinsett County," said Richardson. She is a lifelong resident of Harrisburg and is married with two sons.
