Marked Tree Rotary to hold banquet
The Marked Tree Rotary is gearing up for its biggest fundraiser of the year, the annual banquet and auction, to begin at 6 p.m. Feb. 14, with an auction preview at 5:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 304 Frisco Street.
"Our banquet helps fund all the projects we do throughout the year," said Zachary Hatley, Marked Tree Rotary president. "This year, we have a couple of new service projects for the community."
All benefits from the banquet will go towards various service plans conducted by rotarians. The rotary handles several service projects for Marked Tree including the Peggy Bankston Walk, distributing dictionaries to third graders, food baskets for those in need, and much more.
"Our goal is to do more community geared projects this year while serving the people and meeting the needs of the community," Hatley said.
The auction preview will begin at 5:30 p.m. Items to be auctioned are donated to the rotary by local businesses, such as gift certificates, services and other items sold locally. Hatley said they are still taking donations for the auction.
"It's great advertisement for what your business has to over, and you are doing a service to your community, as well," Hatley said.
At 6 p.m. a light program will be held. At 6:30 p.m., the live auction will begin along with heavy hors d'oeuvres and beverages.
"We had a good turn out last year. This year, we are shooting for 100. We would like to welcome anybody and everybody," Hatley said.
The banquet will be casual dress. Tickets will be $20. To buy a ticket, persons may contact any rotary member. For tickets and more information, Hatley is available at (870) 358-2432.
