Marked Tree Chamber welcomes new business

Sunday, February 23, 2014

This week, the Marked Tree Chamber of Commerce heard from Randall Burcham who, together with his business partner Sam Victory, will bring a new business to Marked Tree that manufactures cotton candy, butter cookies, peanut butter treats and rice crispie treats.

Burcham said he hopes to be in operation by mid-March, and when they are in full production they should produce 3-4,000 bags a week, which are sold across the region. The labels on all the products will indicate the products are made in Marked Tree.

In other business, a date was set for the annual chamber banquet. The banquet will be on Thursday, April 17. A silent auction will start at 5:30 p.m. followed by dinner at 6 p.m. provided by the Methodist Chicks. Tickets will be $15.

Chamber President Sandy Teague said the Chamber will start a fundraiser to collect pennies all over town to help fund putting in flowers at the underpass as part of a project to clean the area. Marked Tree students will also be painting a mural as part of the beautification project.

Teague also said the new Arkansas books, which feature pages on Marked Tree, are available for $42 each. Contact a Chamber member for details.
