Lady Wildcats torched by Valley View

Vally View scored five runs in the their half of the fifth inning to blow open a close game before going on to beat the Trumann Lady Wildcats 12-5 in 4A-3 conference softball action at Valley View.

The Lady Wildcats got on the board first when Taelor Gartman was hit by a pitch and scored when Hannah Wood reached on an error by the Lady Blazers outfield to make it 1-0 Trumann. Valley View answered with three runs in the bottom of the first to lead 3-1. The Lady 'Cats went down in order in the second and Valley View added a run to make it 4-1.

Haven Taylor was hit by a pitch to open the third inning and came around to score on a RBI single from Gartman. Gartman stole second and scored on a double by Wood to make it 4-3. The Lady Blazers added two runs in their half of the third making it 6-3 Valley View. Valley View tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-3.

Garttman reached on a two-out error in the top of the fifth. Wood singled sending Gartman to third. Hollie Russell came on to pinch run for Gartman and scored when Neely Blagg reached on a Lady Blazer error to make it 7-4. Kierra Corter scored Wood with a single to make the score 7-5 Valley View. Valley View broke the game open with five runs in their half of the fifth to make the score 12-5. The Lady Blazers added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to win 15-5 via the run rule.

Megan McGowan took the loss for Trumann giving up 12 runs on 10 hits while walking eight and striking out three. Blagg pitched the final inning giving up three runs on three hits with one walk.

Gartman led Trumann at the plate with a hit, two runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base. Wood finished with two hits, a run scored and a RBI. Corter finished with a hit and RBI.
