MARKED TREE -- James Wheeler Hendrix of Marked Tree died May 1, 2014 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro at the age of 86. Mr. Wheeler was born in Alabama to John Hamm and Ida Hendrix. He was a farm worker and of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maxine Lee Hendrix; one daughter, Gail Armstrong; one son, Robert Hendrix; two sisters, Lizzie Travis and Mattie McMullen; and one brother, Loney Hendrix. Mr. Hendrix is survived by one daughter, Louise Buse of Harrisburg; two sons, Wayne Hendrix of Marked Tree and Carl Hendrix of Alabama; one sister, Hattie Groom of Florida; one brother, Johnny Hendrix of Lepanto; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 5 at Wilson Funeral Home in Tyronza with Pastor David Fields officiating followed by burial in the Marked Tree Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home in Tyronza was in charge of services.
