TRUMANN - Mr. Herschel L. Harness of Trumann died May 26, 2014 at Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Ark., at the age of 87. He was born in Timbo to the late James and Lilly Sutterfield Harness and had lived his lifetime in Trumann. Mr. Harness was the manager of Earl's Supermarket, World War II Navy veteran, a member of American Legion Post 42 and a deacon of the Trumann Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Hazel Massey Harness, one sister, two brothers and his parents.
Survivors include three sons, Don (Terry) Harness of Lebanon, Tenn., Perry (Brenda) Harness of Trumann and Allen (Donna) Harness of Jonesboro; one sister, Floella Harness Clark of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, Lester Harness and Devon Harness of Wichita, Kan., and John Harness of San Antonia, Tex., 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were May 29in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Miles Evans and Rev. Bill Maxwell officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.
Pallbearers were Cory Harness, Jeremy Harness, Josh Harness, Richard Harness, Cameron Adams and Jagger Harness. Honorary pallbearer was Chris Hall.
