Anna Jewell Walker
HARRISBURG - Anna Jewell Walker, 86, of Harrisburg departed this life Sunday, June 22, 2014 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Jewell was born December 12, 1927 in Wayne County, Tennessee the daughter of Nathan and Sessel (Franks) Beckham. She married John Albert Walker on November 1, 1952 and they enjoyed forty-five years together before his passing in 1997. Jewell was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and cooking. Being a seamstress she also enjoyed quilting and spending time with family and friends. Jewell was preceded in death by her parents Nathan and Sessel Beckham; her husband, John Albert Walker; one stepbrother, Nathan Beckham; two brothers Leamon and Leland Beckham; and two sisters Mable Beckham and Pearl Finn. She is survived by three daughters Linda Adams and husband David of Trumann Gloria Walker of Jonesboro and Rita Stoker and husband Steve of Jonesboro; five grandchildren Tara Walker House, Julie (Stoker) Roberson, Jana Stoker, John Marlin Adams, and Lauren (Adams) Frisby; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were June 25 at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Paul Hale and Bro. Leroy Franks conducted the service. Active pallbearers were Tony Rice, Randall Stanford, Mike Clem, Tony Whittingham, Ronnie Swanner, and Kenneth Wixon. The men from Pleasant Hill Baptist Church served as honorary pallbearers. Interment was in Holly Springs Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church 20510 Hwy 158 Harrisburg, Arkansas 72432. Arrangements were by Jackson's Funeral Home.
