Turner dismissed from Red Wolves

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Former East Poinsett County standout A.J. Turner was released from the Arkansas State Red Wolves football team this past Monday for violation of team rules.

"We obviously have team rules in place to benefit and strengthen our entire football program," said Anderson. "It's disappointing that A.J. was unable to adhere on multiple occasions to the standards and expectations we have in place for the entire team, and that led to his dismissal. We wish A.J. only the best in his future endeavors."

Turner transferred from the University of Arkansas where he had a banner freshman year with 53 tackles and being named to the SEC All-Freshman team. Injuries sidelined Turner for his sophomore season.

Eligible for the 2014 season, Turner was set to start at the Will linebacker spot for ASU.
