Democrat Tribune sponsoring Q and A for Trumann mayoral candidates

Monday, September 15, 2014

Six candidates are running for mayor of Trumann this year, each bringing a unique perspective to the race. In order to give the public a chance to meet and hear from each candidate on issues concerning the city, the Poinsett County Democrat Tribune will sponsor and Question and Answer Session a month prior to the election.

The Q and A with the mayoral candidates will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Community House on the corner on W. Main St. and Poinsett Ave. on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Questions will be submitted by the public beforehand and chosen by PCDT staff. The questions will be asked by a moderator, and candidates will each have two minutes to answer every question. No questions will be taken directly from the audience during the event itself, but the candidates will be available afterward to meet and greet one-on-one.

The public is invited to submit ideas for questions either in person at the PCDT office at 201 Highway 463 North, by mail at P.O. Box 5, Trumann, AR, 72472, or by e-mail at bbean@democrattribune.com. The deadline to submit questions is Tuesday, Sept. 30.

All six candidates--incumbent Sheila Walters, Debbie Cook, John Paul Goodman, Gary Hill, Barbara Lewallen, and Ken Stockton--have been invited to participate. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the Q and A session for the chance to hear from each candidate on issues important to Trumann citizens.
