Marked Tree (2-1) fell behind early and could never catch up as the Barton Bears claimed a 61-24 win this past Friday night in Barton. Bailey Gilbert led the Indians offense with 104 yards rushing as Blake Daniels passed for 77 yards. Hunter Pitts had 44 yards receiving. Jaleel Lott and Josh Simpson each scored a touchdown.
EPC (3-0) kept rolling right along with a 56-6 win over Marianna. Aaron Scales led the Warriors by accounting for five touchdowns on the night, three passing, one rushing and a defensive fumble return for a score. The Warriors welcomed back T.J. Young who missed the first two games of the season for medical reasons. Young rushed for 102 yards a touchdown. Kyler Gordon rushed for 76 yards and scored five two-point conversions as Chanc Gray added a touchdown run too. Quin Young had 82 yards receiving with two touchdowns as Clay Malone finished with 61 yards receiving and Austin Smith had a touchdown reception. Harrisburg (1-2) got their first win of the season as they defeated Walnut Ridge 34-20. Malik Versie led the Hornets with 147 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Connor Haag finished with 112 yards on ground with a touchdown and added 69 yards passing. Joey McGill found the end zone twice as he rushed for 60 yards. Dillon Russell caught four balls for 43 yards.
It was a good night last Thursday for the county junior high teams as they all collected wins. Trumann downed Pocahontas, Harrisburg beat Cave City, Marked Tree shut out Earle and EPC crushed Midland.
The Junior Hornets (2-1) got a big night from Clay Wright as he accounted for 331 yards, two touchdowns and a two-point conversion as Harrisburg beat Cave City 22-20 in Harrisburg. Wright passed for 227 yards with two touchdowns and a two-point conversion pass while adding 104 yards rushing. Walker Brown finished with 51 yards rushing and a touchdown. Gavin Casebier had 65 yards receiving with a touchdown and two-point conversion catch. Dillon Mathis had 111 yards receiving and a touchdown as Weston Stanford had 49 yards receiving.
The EPC Junior Warriors (2-1) crushed Midland 46-6. T.J. Bush returned three punts for touchdown, all in the first quarter, as Peyton Phillips, Eric Driver and Adam McClain all added touchdowns.
Paul Coleman had a big night for Marked Tree (1-2) scoring five touchdowns as the Junior Indians shutout Earle 34-0. Coleman had two touchdown runs, two touchdown catches and returned the opening kick-off for a touchdown. Julian Booker threw two touchdown passes and a two-point conversion to Gavin Lowry.
