Athletes honored at banquet
Trumann held their fall sports banquet his past Friday night to honor those that played tennis, golf, volleyball and football.
Golf was first on the agenda as Hunter Montgomery was presented the Wildcat Award with Reid Cash getting the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award. Both golfers participated in the state golf tournament.
Tennis was up next as Kyle and Ben Collins were recognized along with Zane McKimmie for making it to the state tennis tournament.
The seventh-grade volleyball were given certificates as the junior high program gave out seven awards. Misty Moye and Hannah Craig were named offensive and defensive player of the years respectively. Craig won the serve award, Greenwell got the most assists award, Anna Waleszonia was named most improved as Sydney Callahan won the Wildcat award. Greenwell also took home team MVP. Greenwell, Waleszonia and Craig were named all-conference.
Hannah Wood won the server award on the high school volleyball team. Blaire Jones was named most improved, Ashton Parker won the most assists awards with Alli Victory taking the offensive player of the year and Haven Taylor taking the defensive player of the year. The Wildcat award went to Sydney Greenwell as Wood was named team MVP. Parked was tabbed as the only all-conference player.
The conference champion junior high football team was announced next with each player receiving a championship t-shirt.
The senior high team gave out only one award with Dalton Carter getting the Wildcat award. Austin Jones, Grayson Dye and Mario Sifuentes were named to 4A-3 all-conference team.
