HARRISBURG - Mr. Edsel Terrell of Harrisburg, departed this life Tuesday, May 19, 2015, in Jonesboro, at the age of 80.
He was born March 5, 1935 in Lepanto, the son of the late Lester Lloyd Terrell and Vaughn Tee Hood Terrell.
Edsel was raised in Trumann and was a graduate of Trumann High School. Following high school he attended University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for 2 years. He married Barbara Jean Hunn on November 17, 1957 and they enjoyed 58 years together. He retired from farming in 2004 after 49 years of farming. He was named Poinsett County Farmer of the Year in 1957. He was an avid Bird Hunter and a Field Trial Judge at Grand Junction. He was well known for raising and training bird dogs. He loved duck hunting and his grandkids and great grandkids were the pride of his life. Known for his honor and integrity, he was an excellent role model as a husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Terrell of the home, two sons, Mark Anthony Terrell of Harrisburg and Thomas Van Terrell (Dee Ann) of Jonesboro, one daughter, Jeanna Lynn Terrell of Harrisburg, one sister, Tommie Lou McDaniel of South Carolina, four grandchildren, Tad Andrew Terrell (Morgan Ann) of Jonesboro, Kara Elizabeth Terrell of Fayetteville, Madison Maxine Costner (Kelton) of Jonesboro and Zoe Paige Terrell of Jonesboro, and four great grandchildren, Alexis Taylor Terrell, Addie Grace Terrell, Briggs Ann Terrell, and Jakob Dylan Costner.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, at the First United Methodist Church in Harrisburg with Rev. Tom Sullinger officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 p.m. till service time. Those serving as honorary pallbearers are Jim Tom Butler, Gary Reddmann, John B. May, Johnny Riley, Sr., Johnny Riley, Jr., Greg Spurlock, Kenneth Linton, Donald Trentham, Perry Long, Joey Long, and Todd Edwards.
