Saturday, June 27, 2015

The Arkansas State Highway Commission has approved a bid for resurfacing 1.4 miles worth of roadway in Trumann as part of the State Aid City Streets Program.

The streets to be repaved are Cedar Street (0.3 miles), Plaza Avenue (0.3 miles), Poinsett Avenue (0.3 miles), and Willow Lane (0.5 miles).

Atlas Asphalt, Inc., of Batesville was awarded the contract at $240,823.28. Construction is scheduled to begin in two to four weeks, weather permitting, and should be completed this summer.

The Street Aid City Streets Program, approved by voters in 2012, provides $20 million annually from the state motor fuels tax to assist cities with projects selected by a nine member panel of Arkansas mayors.
