Marked Tree advances, EPC and Harrisburg seasons end

Marked Tree (7-3, 5-2A-3) wrapped up the third spot in the conference and will host a first round Class 2A state playoff game.

The Indians clinched the third spot with a 28-12 win over Rector in the regular season finale.

D'Angelo Griffin led the Indians' offense with 118 yards on 20 carries and three touchdowns. Jerome Shackleford finished with 59 yards on 11 carries and one touchdown. Blake Daniels was 5 of 9 passing for 32 yards as Ricky Harmon had two catches for 24 yards. Ramiro Rodriguez was good all four of his extra-point kicks.

Jaylon Gunn, Harmon, Jaleel Lott, Rodriguez and Daniels all had four tackles each on the night. Jacob Ellis recovered a fumble for the Indians.

Marked Tree will host Brinkley this Friday night, Kick-off is set for 7.

Harrisburg (2-8, 1-6 4A-3) fell to Gosnell 52-0 ending their season. No stats had been sent in at press time.

EPC (3-7, 2-5) will not be in the Class 2A state playoffs for the first time in several years. The Warriors jumped out to a 14-0 lead over Walnut Ridge at halftime only to see the Bobcats storm back with 27 points in the second half to gain the win.

Clay Malone finished the night completing five of thirteen passes for 87 yards with one touchdown. Kyler Gordon had 38 yards on nine carries with a two-point conversion as Trevor Walked gained 22 yards on three carries. Eric Driver had a touchdown rushing for the Warriors..
