Area basketball round-up
The Bay Lady Yellowjackets (7-2, 1-0 1A-3 East) picked up two wins this week in high school basketball action. Bay beat Ridgefield Christian School 88-21 last Thursday night as Katie Ferguson had 20 points and ten rebounds. Whitlee Layne netted 18 points as Mallory Hartley finished with 13 points and Abby Frisby added 10 points. Sydney Higgins grabbed 11 rebounds.
Bay won the junior high game 42-15 as Tot Diaz and Olivia Ferguson each scored 10 points for Bay.
The Lady 'Jackets got a 78-66 win over Corning this past Tuesday night as Ferguson again led the team in scoring with 32 points. Hartley finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Layne and Frisby each had 10 points.
Bay (5-3) also won the junior high 41-33 in overtime. Diaz led the team with 20 points as Shelby Corn chipped in 14 points.
Bay's boys ran their record to 6-1 with a 68-44 win over Marmaduke in Bay this past Tuesday. Jonathan Crain scored 17 points to lead the Yellowjackets followed by Taylor Layne with 13 points and Nolan Smith with 12 points.
Bay's Junior Yellowjackets (5-1) got double digits points from four players to win their game over Marmaduke by a score of 50-39. Dax Gibson led the way with 12 points, Ian Keich netted 11 points as Lane Austin and Aaron Jolly each scored 10 points.
Harrisburg's junior girls and boys played at the Jack Moore Invitational Tournament this week in Valley View. The juniors boys lost to Valley View 50-5 and the junior girls lost to Mountain Home 33-21 this past Monday night. Both team played again this past Tuesday with the boys falling to BIC 44-19 and girls losing to Paragould 32-29. The paper had not received any stats from the games at press time.
