Wildcats football season ends
Trumann (6-5) traveled to Pea Ridge to take on the Blackhawks in the first round of the Class 4A high school state football playoffs. The Blackhawks used a big second half to down the Wildcats 42-6 ending their season. This was Trumann's first trip to the playoffs since 2010.
Scoreless after one quarter, Pea Ridge scored twice in the second quarter to take a 14-0 lead. Trumann fumbled at the Blackhawks' three-yard line with with 2:30 left in the quarter. The score stayed the same at halftime.
Pea Ridge scored twice more in the third quarter before the Wildcats got on the board with a Connor Haag touchdown run with 16 seconds left. The two-point conversion was no good. The Blackhawks added two more scores in the fourth quarter.
Haag led Trumann with 98 yards on eight carries and a touchdown as Cade Gartman finished with 94 yards on 15 carried with Trey Moody chipping in 23 yards on six carries.
