Wildcats hold on to win home opener over Highland

Trumann (2-2, 1-1 4A-3) took a 49-46 lead with three seconds left and watched as Highland's three-point attempt was off it's mark giving the Wildcats the win in their home opener.

Highland scored first to take an early 2-0 before Trumann reeled off the next 11 points. Kevonte Andrews scored inside and then followed by hitting one of two free throws after being fouled to make it 3-2 Trumann. Kelon Booker converted an old-school three-point play and followed with a basket inside to stretch the Wildcats' lead to 8-2. Jay Jones finished the run with a three-pointer from the right wing to make it 11-2 Trumann. Highland returned the favor scoring the the last nine points of the quarter to make it 11-11 at the end of one.
