Trumann churches to provide Christmas meal

Monday, December 14, 2015

For several years, Trumann area churches have joined together to provide a free Christmas meal to the community. This meal is primarily for those who cannot afford one or those who are alone this Christmas and are looking for good fellowship. Lunch will be served on Christmas day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the recreation building at the Trumann Sports Complex on Pecan Grove Road.

Last year, 1,000 meals were served. This year's ministry will need approximately 30 turkeys and 25 hams donated. Anyone wishing to help may take a turkey or ham (unfrozen) to Couch's restaurant on Highway 463 by Monday, Dec. 21, so they can be ready for Christmas lunch.

The ministry is also in need of monetary donations for miscellaneous and unexpected expenses. Anyone wishing to donate may send checks to Lindsay Miller, coordinator, at 26 Windfield Circle, Trumann, AR 72472, or contact First General Baptist Church at 870-483-2343 or by e-mail at

Anyone wishing to help serve or deliver meals should be at the Sports Complex on Christmas Day by about 10:30 a.m. Anyone wishing to just help clean up should be there by 1 p.m.

If anyone knows someone who needs a meal delivered, contact Miss Moody at 870-650-1053 or Lindsay Miller at 870-483-3183.
