Hornets get swatted by Cedar Ridge in NEA opener

Harrisburg (7-8) played toe to toe with Cedar Ridge (11-3) for the first five minutes of the game. Austin Reaves then reeled off 11 straight points and the Timberwolves never looked back on their way to a 77-37 win in boys' Division II play at the NEA Invitational Tournament being held in Jonesboro.

Cade Crabtree hit one of two free throws for Cedar Ridge to open the scoring making it 1-0. Gavin Casebier scored inside and Walker Hammond was good on two free throws giving Harrisburg a 4-1 lead. Keegan Harrison scored inside and Zach Powell converted a conventional three-point play to put Cedar Ridge up 6-4. Hammond scored back to back baskets to make it 8-6 Hornets with 3:14 left in the quarter. Reaves scored the next 11 points with back to back three-pointers, a jumper and another three-pointer to make the score 17-8 Timberwolves. Dylan Mathis converted an old-school three-point play and Casebier hit two free throws as Harrisburg cut the lead to 17-13 only to see Cedar Ridge get two free throws from Crabtree and one of two free throws from Reaves to make the score 20-13 Timberwolves at the end of one.
