Lady 'Jackets fall in overtime to Marmaduke
Bay (20-3) used a 21-11 fourth quarter to force overtime against Marmaduke (17-6) only to see the Lady Greyhounds outscore Bay 10-9 to take a 62-61 win in the semi-finals of the Division I NEA Invitational Tournament this past Tuesday afternoon.
Jordan Mays opened the scoring for Marmaduke with a basket inside before Bay got a jumper for Whitlee Layne and an inside basket from Baylee Bowers to make it 4-2 Lady 'Jackets. Mays hit a jumper in the lane to tie the game at 4 as Katie Ferguson hit two free throws, Layne converted an old-school three-point play and Ferguson went coast to coast for a lay up to give Bay an 11-4 lead. Brianna Hood hit one of two free throws for the Lady Greyhounds and Tabitha Hyten drilled a three-pointer as Marmaduke cut the lead to 11-8 with 3:42 left. Bay answered with a base line jumper from Abby Frisby and an inside basket from Layne to push the lead to 15-8. Abby Meredith scored inside, Kelsey McCoy hit two free throws, Meredith scored another inside basket and Mays had a steal and lay up as the Lady Greyhounds took a 16-15 lead at the end of one.
