Late scoring flurry sends Indians to win

Marked Tree (14-4, 9-2 2A-3) was trailing 50-49 with 33 left before LaQuentin Miles scored eight points in a 13 second span propelling the Indians to a 57-51 win over conference rival EPC (12-7, 7-3) this past Friday in Lepanto.

EPC got back to back baskets from Keyon Dorsey and J'Sebian Brown to start the game taking an early 4-0 lead. Nick Andrews hit a jumper in the lane for Marked Tree only to see Dorsey and Des Barnes score back to back baskets for the Warriors to make the score 8-2 EPC. Marked Tree got a stick back basket from Markel Perry, a three-pointer form Miles and two free throws from Perry to make the score 9-8 Indians. Xzavier Reed got two free throws to fall for EPC and followed with a basket inside to give the Warriors a 12-9 lead only to see Marked Tree get back to back baskets from Miles and Colby Malone to make it 13-12 Indians with 1:26 left in the quarter. Dorsey scored inside for EPC and Miles answered for Marked Tree with a three-pointer to make it 16-14 Indians. Reed put back an offensive rebound to make it 16 all only to see Perry hit two free throws with three seconds left to give the Indians an 18-16 lead after one quarter of play.
