Haag signs scholarship with TIU
Trumann's Connor Haag signed his letter of intent this past Tuesday to continue his football career at Trinity International Universtiy (TIU) in Deerfield, IL.
"I'm excited to be going up there to play. I went for a visit and it just felt like the right place to be. It felt like home and like a good place to play football," Haag said after his signing.
After starting his high school career at Harrisburg, Haag transferred to Truamnn for his senior year. A dual threat at the quarterback position, teams just can't focus on one part of his game. Trumann head football coach had nothing but praise for Haag. "Trinity is getting a fine you man who carries himself the right way on and off the field and has high character," Waymire siad. "Connor is an unselfish player and will do whatever to help the team. Trinity runs the spread and runs their quarterback so with his size they are excited to see him just focus on football and what he can do. TIU is getting a top notch young man," Waymire added.
Haag said the recruiting process went pretty fast. "I got a text from Coach Fleming (RJ Fleming who played his college days at ASU) asking if I wanted to come for a visit that weekend. The visit went great and it's cool that the first school who contacted me is where I'll be playing. I'm excited," Haag said.
The Trojans play in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference and are coming off a 2-9 season in 2015. Fifteen teams comprise the CCAC in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
TIU is composed of a liberal arts college, a divinity school, a graduate school and a law school in California. Trinity is the educational ministry of the Evangelical Free Church of America; its main campus is located in Deerfield, Illinois, with regional centers in Chicago, IL, Davie, FL and Santa Ana CA.
