Warriors beat Riverside to advance to district semi-finals
EPC (17-10) used a big second half to overcome a seven point halftime deficit and beat Riverside 67-59 this past Thursday to advance to the 2A-3 senior high boys' district tournament semi-finals at Marked Tree.
Keyon Dorsey scored inside to give EPC the early 2-0 lead only to see Gavin Stone hit a jumper in the lane followed by a fast break lay up to put Riverside up 4-2. Dorsey hit two free throws for EPC and Grant Mason rebounded his own miss and scored for the Rebels to make the score 6-4 Riverside. Xzavier Reed a jumper for EPC to make it 6-6 before Stone drilled a three-pointer for the Rebels to make it 9-8 Riverside with two minutes left in the opening quarter. Chris Sain scored inside for Riverside as Jamal Rodgers scored in the paint for EPC to make the score 11-10 Rebels. Luke Baker canned a three-pointer for the Rebels, Clay Malone hit two free throws for EPC before Braden Overman netted a three-pointer for Riverside at the buzzer to give the Rebels a 17-12 lead after one.
