Indians shock Earle to win district title

Marked Tree (21-7) did what no other team in the 2A-3 conference could do. The Indians continued to fight all night with their efforts paying of with a 68-59 over Earle (26-3) in the senior boys' district championship game this past Saturday in Marked Tree

Cortez Banks opened the game with a coast to coast lay up for Earle making the score 2-0 as D'Angelo Griffin answered with a three-pointer for Marked Tree to make it 3-2 Indians. Cortez Banks canned a three-pointer for Earle only to see Tyler Wofford score inside to tie the game at five. Gerry Bohanon hit a jumper for Earle and Cortez Banks canned another three-pointer for the Bulldogs to make it 10-5 Earle. LaQuentin Miles hit a jumper in the lane for Marked Tree before Earle got back to back baskets from Treyvon Boyce and Cortez Banks to make the score 14-5 Bulldogs. The Indians closed the first quarter scoring with two free throws from Griffin and a basket down low from Markel Perry to make the score 14-9 Earle at the end of one.
