Lady Warriors fall to Sloan-Hendrix at regional tournament to end season

EPC (19-10) trailed the entire game before getting to within one with nine seconds only to see their comeback fall short as they lost 59-58 to Sloan-Hendrix in the 2A North regional tournament last Wednesday to end their season.

Sloan-Hendrix jumped out to a 5-0 lead as Brenda McCain hit a three-pointer and Alyssa Nichols scored inside. Krystan Vornes got EPC on the board with a basket inside to make it 5-2. Nichols got a stick back basket for the Lady Greyhounds, Bailey Constant hit one of two free throws for EPC and Brittany Gosha hit two free throws for Sloan-Hendrix to make the score 9-3 Lady Greyhounds. Becca Bishop scored inside for the Lady Warriors, McCain hit another three-pointer for Sloan-Hendrix as Constant hit one of two free throws for EPC to make the score 12-6 Lady Greyhounds with 4:30 left. Bailey Bradley scored inside for Sloan-Hendrix, Bishop scored off the fast break for EPC, Nichols hit a jumper in the lane for the Lady Greyhounds and Bre Ward hit a jumper in the lane for the Lady Warriors to make it 16-10 Sloan-Hendrix. Jessie Powell got a fast break basket for the Lady Greyhounds, Bre Ward hit one of two free throws for EPC and Nichols converted an old-school three-point play for Sloan-Hendrix to make the score 21-11 Lady Greyhounds. Bishop got inside for EPC with four seconds left making the score 21-13 Sloan-Hendrix at the end of one.
