Bay pulled off what no other team had been able to accomplish when the Yellowjackets knocked off previously unbeaten Guy-Perkins 82-69 in the semifinals of the 1A State Tournament Saturday night at Brockwell. The win snapped the Thunderbirds 39-game winning streak and sent the defending state champion Yellowjackets to their fifth 1A state final in the past seven years. If Bay is to win a second consecutive title, they will have to get past undefeated Emerson in a rematch of last year's championship[ game Friday afternoon at Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hog Springs. Tip-off is set for 5:15 p.m.

The two teams battled at a furious pace throughout the contest and went into the fourth period all even at 51-51. Jonathan Crain gave the Jackets a brief lead on a baby hook to begin the final frame, but Guy-Perkins' Josh Ballard banged home a long three pointer to put the Thunderbirds up by a point. Bay sophomore Robert McFadden traded three pointers with Guy Perkins guard Tre Minton as the Thunderbirds held a 57-56 edge with 5:24 to go.
