Wildcats sweep Harrisburg in conference doubleheader

Trumann (5-3, 4-0) scored eight runs in the top of the first inning on their way to an 18-9 win the opening game of a 4A-3 conference twin-bill this past Thursday in Harrisburg. Trumann took the second game with a 13-0 shutout.

Cade Gartman reached on an error and stole second base to get in scoring position for Trumann. Garrett Woods walked before Lucas Moye doubled to plate Gartman and send Woods to third making it 1-0 Wildcats. Dylan Qualls doubled to score Woods and Moye making it 3-0 Trumann. Jarred Carter flew out to center field for the first out as Connor Haag singled to put runners on the corner. John Dunman struck out for the second out before Alex Santos singled to bring Qualls home making it 4-0 Wildcats and Terren Blanchard singled to plate Haag to make it 5-0 Trumann. Gartman singled in his second at bat of the inning to score Santos before Woods doubled to score Blanchard and Gartman to make it 8-0 Trumann. Moye was hit by a pitch and Qualls singled only to be left stranded as Carter popped out to second base for out three. Kevonte Andrews retired Harrisburg in order in the bottom of the second as he got ground balls hit back to him from Dylan Mathis and Noah Benintende for the first two outs. Zach Biggers grounded out to third base for out three.
