The Trumann Lady Wildcats went 1-3 over the weekend at a tournament in Southhaven, MS. The Lady Wildcats lost their opening game Friday 7-1 to Grenada, MS as Lexi Jackson took the loss while striking out six. Hannah Wood had Trumann's only hit and run scored as Jackson finished with an RBI. Trumann came back to win their second game 11-3 over Bartlett, TN. Hannah Craig got the win for the Lady Wildcats as Anna Waleszonia and Wood each had two hits. Wood finished with three RBIs as Gartman had two RBIs. Waleszonia scored three runs as Gartman and Jackson each scored two runs. Trumann played DeSoto Central, MS Saturday losing 6-3. Wood and Gartman each had two hits for the Lady Wildcats as Daly Taylor and Jackson each had a RBI with Wood, Kendall Pruitt and Sydney Callahan each scoring a run. Trumann lost 8-5 to Hernando, MS in their final game of the tournament as Jackson took the loss for the Lady Wildcats. Taylor collected two hits and scored two runs as Pruitt hit a home run and drove in three runs.
Bay traveled to Maynard and came away with a 6-3 win as Ashton Darby picked up the win in his first start on the mound. Darby allowed three runs on three hits while walking four with nine strikeouts. Ryan and Layne Austin each had three hits for the Yellowjackets as Crain added two hits, two runs scored and two RBIs.
Trumann held on for a 9-8 road win over Rivercrest this past Monday in a non-conference baseball clash. Cade Gartman led the way with three hits, a run scored and five RBIs for the Wildcats. Lucas Moye added a home run for Trumann. Moye got the win for the Wildcats as he struck out seven in six innings of work as Jarred Carter gave up two hits in the final inning to get the save.
Bay pounded out 17 hits on the day as the Yellowjackets beat Hillcrest 10-2 this past Tuesday in Lynn. Jimmy Duvall, Ryan Austin and Jonathan Crain each had three hits for Bay as Kyle McAdams, Layne Austin, Nolan Smith and Jordan Jackson each had two hits. Duvall scored three runs as Smith, Austin Jackson, Jordan Jackson and McAdams each scored two runs. Duvall got the win on the mound for Bay.
The Harrisburg Lady Hornets split a conference doubleheader with Westside this past Tuesday losing the first game 5-2 before winning the nightcap 7-6. In the opener, Ansley Wixson, Caitlyn Adams, Lacey Lambright, Sidney McMullin and Melanie Jackson each had a hit for Harrisburg. Adams and McMullin each scored a run as Jackson and McMullin each had a RBI. Adams took the loss on the mound. In game two, Wixson and McMullin each had two hits with Keely Edwards, Cassie Armstrong, Abby Edwards and Adams all adding a hit. Wixson scored two runs as Jessica Webb, Keely Edwards, Adams, Armstrong and Abby Edwards scored a run each. McMullin, Lacey Lambright and Abby Edwards had two RBIs each as Adams added a RBI. Adams got the win for Harrisburg.
Trumann dropped a doubleheader to Highland this past Tuesday losing 11-7 and 11-10. In the opener, Dylan Qualls had two hits and four RBIs as Cade Gartman had two hit, two runs scored and two RBIs. Garrett Woods took the loss giving up six runs on eleven hits with six strikeouts. In game two, Qualls had another big game at the plate with three hits, a run scored and five RBIs. Woods scored three runs with Gartman and Haag each scoring twice. Carter was tagged with the loss in relief.
The Bay Lady Yellowjackets (2-0, 2-0 1A-3 East) opened their season with a doubleheader sweep of Maynard winning 12-0 and 12-10 this past Tuesday in Bay. Mallory Hartley finished with three hits in the opener including a home run as Emily Rush finished with three hits and Baylee Bowers had two hits. Baylee Bowers lead off with a home run as one of her four hits as Hartley picked up three more hits. AnnMarie Wood added two hits and four RBIs for Bay. Bowers picked up the win in both games.
Trumann's Lady Wildcats swept Highland 4-0 and 14-5 in a conference twin-bill at Trumann this past Tuesday. Lexi Jackson got the shutout in the opener allowing three hits while striking out seven. Hannah Wood had three hits and Anna Waleszonia two hits with Olivia Greenwell adding two RBIs. Hannah Craig picked up the win in game two giving up five runs on seven hits. Jackson had four hits and scored four runs, Wood had three hits, three runs scored and four RBIs as Taelor Gartman had two hits, two runs scored and three RBIs.
The Lady Warriors of EPC won a pair of games over Riverside this past Tuesday in high school softball action. EPC won the opener 11-1 as Kaylan Wilson, Kurstin Bryan, Christian Hinson, Bailey Constant and Jaleigha Garrett all finished with two hits each. In Lady Warriors 14-8 game two in, Constant collected four hits, Bryan added three hits with Madison Wiggins, Sarah Tacker and Becca Bishop each getting two hits. Tacker got the pitching win in both games.
Harley Daniels struck out 10 batters while collecting three hits and two RBIs to lead Marked Tree to an 11-3 win over Cross County this past Tuesday. Ally Byers added two hit and two RBIs as Cam Willoughby and Tiana Morris each had two hits. Kayli Walker added two RBIs for the Lady Indians.
