Daniels tosses shutout against Lady Cougars

Marked Tree's Harley Daniels only allowed three hits as the Lady Indians downed Rector 2-0 in high school softball action this past Thursday in Marked Tree.

Tori Hill struck out for Rector to open the game before Sophie Adams was hit by a pitch. Colby Lynch flew out as Emma Hobbs walked putting runners on first and second for the Lady Cougars. Mylesa Gant grounded out to leave the runners stranded. Ally Byers led off for Marked Tree and reached on an error before stealing second base. Brittany Pharis grounded out moving Byers to third as Daniels helped her own cause with a single that plated Byers for a 1-0 Lady Indians' lead. Madison Carroll struck out and Kayli Walker grounded out to end the inning. Maddie Hobbs lined out to second for the Lady Cougars' first out in the top of the second inning before Sawyer Hendrix and Colbi Robinson had back to back singles. Dominique Coln was caught looking on a strikeout and Hill flew out as Rector left two more runners on base. Bailey Dunn reached on an error for Marked Tree in the bottom of the second inning and went to second on a ground out by Taylor Hannah. Dunn took third on a passed ball and scored on a single by Tiana Morris to make it 2-0 Lady Indians. Cam Willoughby reached on a fielder's choice that forced Morris out at second and moved to third on a single by Byers and a Rector error. Pharis popped out to end the second inning with the score 2-0 Marked Tree.
