Indians close season with loss to Rector

Marked Tree fell behind early and could never catch up as the Indians fell 12-4 to Rector in the opening round of the 2A-3 district tournament last Wednesday in Marked Tree. The loss ended Marked Tree's season at 3-18.

Blake Daniels walked to start the game off for Marked Tree as Gavin Lowry followed with a walk. Chaz Simmons hit into a fielder's choice that forced Daniels out at third. Ricky Harmon walked to load the bases only to see Aaron Hutchens look at strike three and Ramiro Rodriguez ground out to lead the bases loaded. The Cougars plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early 2-0 lead. Bailey Lucas struck out to lead off the second inning for Marked Tree before Nick Kinney coaxed a walk. Brandon Morgan went down swinging and Kinney was forced at second on a fielder's choice by Daniels. Rector sent ten batters to the plate in the bottom of the second inning scoring six runs to push their lead to 8-0 after two.
