Lady Indians tumble in district title game

Marked Tree could only muster four hits as they lost 12-0 to Marmaduke in the 2A-3 district tournament championship game last Thursday in Marked Tree.

Ally Byers led off for Marked Tree with a triple but got greedy trying to score and was tagged out in a rundown. Tiana Morris and Harley Daniels each struck out for the Lady Indians. Marmaduke plated five runs in the bottom of the first as Jordan Mays bunted for a single and then stole second base. Natalie Lentz bunted Mays over to third where she scored when Sammi Henry reached on an error making it 1-0 Lady Greyhounds. Sammi Henry went to third on a passed ball and scored when Tabitha Hyten singled to make it 2-0 Marmaduke. Brittany Banning was hit by a pitch before her and Hyten scored of a wild throw to make it 4-0 Lady Greyhounds. Bailey Bridges walked before Natalie Shelton lined out as April Kennedy reached on an error that allowed Bridges to score making it 5-0 Marmaduke. Rachel Martin popped out to end the inning.
