Tyronza hosts First Friday on May 6
Tyronza's first ever First Friday will be this week on Friday, May 6. According to Jeanne Glover, Mayor Charles Glover's wife, the idea for First Fridays came following the city's successful Upscale Yard Sale.
During the Upscale Yard Sale, vendors could rent booths to sell items, and people in town could register their yard sales to be on a map given to those shopping for deals that day. Glover said around 30 people registered to be on the map during the citywide yard sale.
The Stars and Stripes Committee began talking about doing other, similar events due to the success and fun of the Upscale Yard Sale. "On Fridays, we have a lot of people come to eat, and we have a lot of people in town," Glover said. So they decided to have an event on the first Friday of the month, which will be kind of like a Farmer's Market.
From 5:30-7:30 p.m. people will be able to set up booths at the city park beside Tyboogies and sell arts, crafts, baked goods, and other items. "We hope to have lots of vendors," Glover said. "We hope people come shop, have a good time, and eat at one of our restaurants." She said there are no reservations necessary for vendors. They need only show up at 5 p.m., pay the $5 fee, and set up their booth. "We think it will be a lot of fun for shoppers and vendors alike," Glover said. "We're just hoping people have fun."
As long as it doesn't rain, the city plans to hold these events on the first Friday of every month from May to October
