Trumann churned out 367 yards rushing with Cade Gartman leading the way with 184 yards as Trumann shutout Hoxie 34-0 in the season opener for both teams this past Friday night in Hoxie. Jesse Pener added 60 yards on the ground with Hunter Woodruff finishing with 48 yards. Jay Morgan chipped in 31 yards as Koltan Jones rushed for 21 yards. Gartman scored three touchdowns and added a two-point conversion. Jones and Preston Heavener each had a rushing touchdown with Gartman and Morgan each scoring a two-point conversion. Drake Evans led the defense with five tackles as Gartman tallied three tackles. John Dunman and Kaleb Keizer each had a fumble recovery.

Marked Tree came back from a 23-0 first quarter deficit to post a 38-37 win over Clarendon in high school football action this past Friday in Clarendon. Paul Coleman led the Indians with 119 yards rushing and a touchdown, Julian Booker finished with 72 yards rushing and a touchdown as Braiden Hall added 37 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Justin Lowry added a touchdown rushing as A.J. Johnson had a touchdown receiving. Coleman had two two-point conversion runs as Booker and Chase Tilley each added a two-point conversion run. Jacob Ellis, Nick Andrews and Coleman each finished with five tackles each with Andrews having a sack and fumble recovery and Kentarious Allen having an interception.

Harrisburg lost to Cross County 36-18 this past Friday night in Cherry Valley. Tayeshaun Warren led the Hornets in rushing with 21 yards as Gavin Casebier caught five passes for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Clay Wright passed for 188 yards and two scores on the night. Noah Benintende and Brandon Jones each finished with 14 tackles as Lance McGinnis recovered two fumbles. Dakota Lee had a 60 yard punt return for a touchdown.

EPC's Junior Warriors also came out on the losing end as they dropped their season opener 36-6 against Walnut Ridge. Gavin Constant led the Junior Warriors in rushing with 74 yards and a touchdown as Drew Lung added 37 yards on the ground. Jamiro Crawford had 25 yards receiving. Hank Knapp led the defense with six tackles and two fumble recoveries as Preston Rains tallied six tackles.

The Junior Wildcats lost to the Hoxie Junior Mustangs 36-16 this past Thursday at Hoxie. Trumann rushed for 290 yards led by Chase Parrish with 65 yards and a touchdown followed by Jaiden Osment with 58 yards and a touchdown, Ben Woodruff with 56 yards rushing as Jax Williams and Jonah Haynie each had 40 yards rushing.
