A kidnapped Dollar Tree employee was found dead in Poinsett County Sunday night.

According to police, Loretta Ann "Laurie" Pixler, 45, of Jonesboro was abducted at gunpoint from the Dollar Tree at 2917 E. Nettleton in Jonesboro where she worked as assistant manager. Police were called to the Dollar Tree around 9:30 p.m. Sunday night in reference to an armed robbery. Police said a male suspect, wearing a dark short-sleeved shirt with gray pants and red bandanna covering his face, approached two Dollar Tree employees as they were leaving the store and demanded money. He then took the phone of one of the victims and forced Pixler into her vehicle and drove away with her.

While on the search for Pixler and the suspect, police were notified of an accident on I-555 near the Payneway exit in Poinsett County involving a vehicle hitting an unknown object in the middle of the highway. Arkansas State Police and the Poinsett County Sheriff's Department were dispatched to the 21-mile marker where they found Pixler's body, which was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause of death. It is unclear if Pixler was alive when she was hit by the car.

Officers discovered Pixler's vehicle in a ditch on Highway 14 about 3-5 miles from where her body was found.

The incident is still under investigation by the Arkanasas State Police and the Jonesboro Police Department.
