Lady Hornets pick up conference win over Westside
Harrisburg had four players in double digits as the Lady Hornets beat Westside 63-38 in senior girls basketball action this past Thursday in Harrisburg.
Kylie DeVries got the scoring going for Harrisburg with a three-pointer from the left wing to make it 3-0 as Westside answered with a bucket inside to make it 3-2. Emily Armstrong canned a three-ball from the left wing and DeVries added a jumper to make the score 8-2 Lady Hornets with 5:42 left. He Lady Warriors got back to back baskets down low to cut the lead to 8-6 before Jessica Webb scored inside for Harrisburg to make it 10-6. Westside netted a three-pointer to make it 10-9 Harrisburg as the Lady Hornets got another three-pointer from DeVries and a conventional three-point play from Emily Armstrong making it 16-9 Lady Hornets. The Lady Warriors hit a baseline jumper only to see Webb hit one of two free throws and Cassie Armstrong drill a three-pointer from the left corner to make the score 20-11 Harrisburg after one.
The Lady Hornets scored the first eight points of the second quarter as Emily and Cassie Armstrong hit back to back three pointers from the same spot and DeVries added two free throws to extend the Harrisburg lead to 28-11. Westside hit one of two free throws before Harrisburg reeled off the next 10 points. Keely Curtis converted an old-fashioned three-point play, Webb scored inside, Curtis got a steal and layup and Cassie Armstrong canned a three-pointer to make it 38-12 Harrisburg. The Lady Warriors hit four free throws before Curtis hit a jumper in the lane for Harrisburg making the score 40-16 Lady Hornets with 1:00 left before half. Westside hit one of two free throws, Curtis hit one of two free throws for Harrisburg and the Lady Warriors hit a jumper in the lane with six seconds left to make the score 41-19 Lady Hornets at the half.
