Lady Yellowjackets take conference win over Marked Tree

Bay outscored Marked Tree 21-0 in the third quarter as the Lady Yellowjackets the Lady Indians 82-24 last Thursday at Bay.

Tullia Tull's turn-around jumper gave Marked Tree the early 2-0 lead before Bay reeled off the next 14 points. Mallory Hartley netted a three-pointer, Sarah Blackman scored off the fast break, Hartley hit a jumper in the lane, Blackman canned a three-ball from the right wing, as Whitlee Layne and Abby Frisby both got lay-ups off the fast break to make 14-2 Bay with 3:59 left. Jayla Carter scored inside for the Lady Indians only to see Bay get back to back inside baskets from Hartley and Sydney Higgins and one of two free throws from Blackman to make the score 19-4 Lady 'Jackets. Tot Diaz scored inside for Bay as Marked Tree got another lay-up from Carter and two free throws from CJ Barnes to make the score 21-8 Bay after one.

CJ Barnes hit one of two free throws for Marked Tree to open the second quarter scoring before Layne hit one of two free throws for Bay and Blackman scored off the break for the Lady 'Jackets to make the score 24-9 Bay. The Lady Indians got an inside basket from Brandice Nesby and one of two free throws from Carter before Blackman hit one of two free throws for Bay to make the score 25-12 Lady Yellowjackets. Tull hit two free throws for Marked; Bay got a three-ball from Hartley and a lay-up off the fast break from Diaz as the Lady Indians got a score down low from CJ Barnes to make it 30-16 Bay with 3:07 left. Hartley drilled a three-pointer, Crain hit one of two free throws, Hartley stuck back an offensive rebound and Crain hit a jumper in the lane as Bay stretched their lead to 38-16. Angel Barnes hit two free throws for the Lady Indians before Bay got a jumper from Hartley and a three-pointer from Frisby to make the score 43-18 Bay at the half.
