Lady Hornets fall to Valley View in NEA Invitational

Harrisburg (7-6) fell behind early and could never catch us as they lost 55-37 to Valley View in the quarter-finals of the NEA Invitational Tournament this past Wednesday in Jonesboro.

The Lady Blazers jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Cassie Armstrong's running jumper got Harrisburg on the board making it 9-2 Valley View. Valley View netted a three-pointer, Cassie Armstrong hit a jumper in the lane, the Lady Blazers connected on another three-pointer as Abby Edwards hit two free throws to make the score 15-6 Valley View with 2:04 left. The Lady Blazers drilled their three-pointer in a row as Cassie Armstrong's driving lay-up made it 18-8 Valley View. A steal and lay-up by Valley View and a conventional three-point play from Jessica Webb made the score 20-11 Lady Blazers at the end of one.

Harrisburg opened the second quarter with one of two free throws from Cassie Armstrong and a fast break lay-up from Keely Curtis to make the score 20-14 Valley View. The Lady Blazers made three of four free throws as Emily Armstrong scored inside for the Lady Hornets making the score 23-16 Valley View with 3:36 left in the half. Valley View scored the next four point before Curtis hit a running jumper for Harrisburg to make the score 27-18 Lady Blazers. Valley View added a score late to make it 29-18 Lady Blazers at the half.
